Information for medical staff of the UK OWL

Welcome to

For licensing reasons, a decision is made between two service groups for the use of the IT services of the Bielefeld IT Service Centre (BITS) of Bielefeld University by employees at the supporting hospitals of the UK OWL.

The scope of the IT services depends largely on the affiliation to a university specialist clinic ("university clinic for an area of expertise"). The employees of these specialised clinics have access to a broad portfolio of services(LP 1).

Employees of specialist clinics that support teaching have access to a portfolio of services focussed on teaching(LP 2) if they are listed by name as teaching staff, instructors, lecturers in the electronic course catalogue (ekvv).

Employees of specialised clinics who are not involved in teaching cannot be granted access.

FAQ - Frequently asked questions

In principle, the teaching coordinators of the supporting hospitals are responsible for reporting requirements to the university. Therefore, please always contact the staff, people responsible for your hospital first. After successful registration, you will receive an automatic email with the access data and the steps required for activation.

All rights are always limited in time. This means that they will expire automatically at some point. Normally, you will not be informed of this as your teaching coordinator will have already applied to us to extend the rights for you.

If we automatically inform you that your rights will expire in 30 days, but you still need them, please contact your teaching coordinator in good time.
